review 1: This book uses an interesting device and one that I wouldn't mind seeing used again. Isobel presents here the ordinary memoirs of a teenager, her feelings, dreams, private moments and silliness in the form of not just a journal but an art journal or a freestyle scrapbook. There is more art than text and I think the pictures say more than the words do, but together they are an intriguing look inside the mind/life of an ordinary teenager (and British at that). There is no plot, life seldom has one. If you enjoy reading other people's journals, diaries, etc. you may enjoy a peek inside Isobel's art journal.
review 2: I ordered this one for the my library after reading a review in School Library Journal. When I flipped through it upon its arrival, I thought it migh... moret be *too* simple to add to the collection, even though it's authored by a teenaged girl. But then a few pages made laugh out loud- namely references to Beyonce and Destiny's Child, so I decided to keep it. I hope some students appreciate the humor and maybe even get inspired to keep journals of their own. less
