review 1: Disturb is one of Konrath's earlier books and this is evident throughout the story. There was definitely a lot of action and the story moved along, but the plot was predictable and the most of the conflict situations were run of the mill and common. However, there were several glimmers of greatness like the idea of a pill that could replace sleep, the twist at the end with the second test subject, and the flow of the story. If you like techno-thrillers, then this one is worth a read.
review 2: This book probably deserved more than three stars, but I recently read Serial and Truck Stop and Trapped and was blown away by these. Disturb was good, but not as good as the others IMHO, thus the 3 stars. Definitely worth reading, though. I only recently discovered... more Konrath's books with the purchase of my Kindle and now, I can't get enough. There are so many books of his out there, either by himself, his pseudonym or in collaboration with other authors, that I'm afraid I won't get to any other books for quite some time. Disturb had a unique storyline where a pharmaceutical company developed a pill that would allow you to stay awake for days/weeks at a time feeling refreshed, stronger than ever, and ready for anything. There may just be a few side effects, but none that the company is willing to confess to. Great concept, just wasn't as good as some of the others I've read. less
