review 1: Too much war for my taste in literature..very Gone with the Wind more so that Pride and Prejudice as many characters have vastly changed circumstances - bennet's had a son who died in the war, Jane marries Bingley early on in the novel who is a doctor, Charlotte has a love interest with a main character and her father the Sheriff is a widow.. Darcy spies on Beth bathing herself in a river which was out of character for Darcy who was all about proper behaviour. As in any Wild West scenes, there are shot outs that involve Wickham and mr Collins is involved with Wickham in his bad ways.
review 2: I really enjoyed this book. It was a little slow to get into at first, but then the pace really picked up. The only thing I had a problem with was that there were too m... moreany "Uhhs" and "Ummms" throughout the book. It broke the pace of the language and didn't seem to fit in with the Civil War and post-Civil War setting. I enjoyed reading about Will and Beth's story, even though I kept calling them "Darcy" and "Lizzie" in my head! I thought this book was an interesting twist on Pride & Prejudice. less
