review 1: Hysterical, upbeat, wild, zany, and totally entertaining describe my tour through Prelutsky's recent anthology of more than 100 poems. Complementing the hilarity are Jackie Urbanovic's deliciously absurd pen-and-ink sketches that enliven as much as they interpret the hilarious situations and characters that inhabit the poems. Ramble through the topsy-turvy predicaments glorified in "We Hunt for Eggs on Halloween," "I Peeled a Banana," "My Stomach, Every Now and Then," "The Bridge to Nowhere"~~Oh, I could go on and on. It's a totally satisfying a romp in a madcap Seussian manner.
review 2: More than 100 new poems highlight the creative and whimsical mind of this popular writer of children's poetry. There is much word play and imagination as he celebrates a multi
... more-tasking octopus, honors an elephant that can paint, and searches everywhere for a missing hippopotamus. He also relishes inventing words for imaginary animals and provides a how-to pronunciation guide on the page. I especially enjoyed "Tyrannosaurus and His Bride" who end up being "Poor Tyrannosaurus wrecks!" (p. 56)and the fun-to-say tongue twister "Two Sea Horses." While every poem didn't work for me, I'm glad to have another volume of poetry from someone who is a master at this type of writing. The funny black and white illustrations, many of which fill an entire page, were created with ink. less
