review 1: I loved the journey Jackson shared of his own life and those furry companions. Stop reading here if you do not want a spoiler............The ending was inevitable and I was dreading it knowing it was going to loom at some point, I cried my eyes out when that time came and I could feel the pain felt by Jackson at that time. It made me come home and give my 2 cats a massive cuddle. Learnt some new things about cat ownership and some things were reaffirmed for me.
review 2: if any of you have watched a show on TV called My Cat From Hell, you are familiar with a fellow named Jackson Galaxy, a fellow with shaved head, oddly sculpted beard, tattoos and a variety of glasses and shades who goes around in his vintage car helping folks who have reached the end of thei... morer rope in dealing with difficult felines. he visits their homes, talks to the people and their cats and somehow works out what the problem is and solves it with a variety of advice and assignments. this book is his story about how he came to be the somewhat odd, but wise and caring man he is today. and it is mainly thanks to one cat, Benny, who was adopted by Jackson and who defied every attempt to domesticate him. if you've seen the show and are interested in what made Jackson Galaxy who and what he is today, this is a pretty good book. the prose is a little on the ..... i'm not sure if it's poetic or ex-druggie, side. intelligible but a little off center. but worth the read if you are a fan of him or his show. there is also some great advice for cat guardians (he never calls them 'owners') in the book. less
