review 1: Ich habe nicht über 10.000 Bücher, kann daher dem "Club" nicht beitreten und zwischen den Bonnet und mir gehörenden Titeln gibt es vermutlich kaum Überschneidungen, dennoch waren mir ein paar seiner "Probleme" vertraut, wie z.B. die Frage, wie bzw, wonach man die Bücher ordnet - jedes System erweist sich als unperfekt ;) - oder der Punkt, dass die Lektüre eines Buches ein Netz aus Beziehungen ergeben kann in dem Sinne, dass ein Buch zu einem anderen Titel dieses oder jenen Autors führt etc. Es ist eine nette Zusammenstellung von verschiedenen Anekdoten u. Texten über - hautpsächlich private - Bibliotheken u. Gefühle von Bibliomanen - mehr als nett ist es für mich allerdings nicht.

Some of you, like me, need not hear anymore and will immediately want to read this. Others won't get it. Warning: you probably will not have heard of any of the many authors and books he rhapsodizes about, mostly because he, unlike most Americans, deeply values literature in translation and organizes his library around the author's original language, which is often not English. Doesn't matter; his observations will compel anyone who, like he, is fascinated with the written word - no matter the language. less
