review 1: This book is helpful for girls who are beginning middle school. It teaches you to value yourself and not place petty things like popularity and appearance in front of things that truly matter. I wish I had this book when I was in fifth and sixth grade. It was not written for adults, it was written for preadolescent girls; that is why the average rating is so low. But Addie is a great character -- kind, accepting, intelligent, courageous, yet imperfect. She's teased and belittled by her peers, but she doesn't let it get her down. She becomes comfortable in her own skin. Addie on the Inside is a great book for any young girl struggling with her individuality.
review 2: DCF Book Award List 2012 - 2013. This is the 3rd book in a "series" by James Howe ("The Misfit
... mores" and "Totally Joe" are the others). This story is told from 7th grader Addie's point of view, as she tries to be her own person but faces teasing from classmates. Although she tries to ignore it all, it still hurts and is annoying. This story will feel familiar to readers of the other 2 books, as it continues the groups' meetings, friendships, etc. less
