review 1: My English teacher let me borrow this book because I kept looking at it and admiring the pretty color palette of the pages. I finished it very quickly and was actually pretty disappointed. I mean, I knew that since it is a graphic novel I wouldn't get much descriptive detail of the story but the storyline itself was so flat and with no ups or downs. It just felt really boring which is a shame because the art is really fun to look at.
review 2: This turned out pretty well. I wasn't expecting much to begin with, and although this wasn't as immersive or "sublime" as "Ghost World" (the only other graphic novel of the same genre and employs, more or less, the same trope, I've read thus far), it was able to hold me into its narrative and "inner world". I was able t... moreo identify with Jimmy as much as I was with Sara (publishing house internship, wanting to get a life, big city, odd dates etc). It kind of left me hanging, but in a good way, and I was wondering what was in store for them. less
