review 1: ***Obsessed by books copy given in exchange for am honest review***"No spinning"....The madness of the world stops for Duke and Nic when they accept that they are forever. Part two of the Bayonet Scars series tells the story from Dukes perspective and we gain a better insight into the bas**ard that is Trigger! We may not love him any better but we understand him and his ways a little more. The events of book one are followed in this installment and seeing it from a different point of view made me go back and re read a couple scenes with a greater appreciation. The story continues on after the high drama ending of book one...and again we have a HEA but a sweeter one this time ;)Nic is a fab character, much more likeable than Princesse, as we see through her gruff exterior... more to her personal tragedies that have made her put up a brick wall round her heart. Duke also is a much warmer alpha male and he fights hard for those he loves.I loved re reading the story from Dukes view point, it's a fantastic idea! I also enjoyed every twist and turn in their fraught love story, especially the violent scenes if retribution. It's hard to gush about how you should really give this series a chance without writing spoilers but I think this series continues to improve with each chapter. The characters are solid and likeable. I hope we see more of the mafia side soon but book two focuses more on the MC family. A fab four star read!
review 2: This book was much better than the first. I also go some of my questions answered that I had about the first book so this book was a win! I like that Duke didn't give up, no matter how hard Nicole tried to push him away, he kept coming back. I have mixed feelings about Nicole's background, it seems as it was an honorable mention type deal to explain away why she aloof. She was abused by her ex and her escape was to become a "lost girl" but she didn't consider herself a whore (yea she said it, but I don't think she believed it). I think I'm being to picky. I did like the story though. What I am waiting on is to find out the reason why the guys are they way they are. Ryan is mean and Duke is no better but they way they talk about the love and care they got from Ruby does add up to them being who they are. Yes, the club has hardened them but I would like to know how. Still overall a good story. less
