review 1: This was by no means the most poetic or perfectly written book I've read, but it was one of the most honest and genuine. Jeff Bauman is the first to admit that he's just a normal guy from a working class family, but it's how he's handled the extraordinary circumstances he's dealing with that makes him special. Even if you don't know who Bauman is, you've seen the picture of him, with shattered legs, being wheeled away from the Boston Marathon bombing by a stranger in a cowboy hat. Bauman details what he remembers of that day and the months of recovery after in his straightforward, unapologetic way.
review 2: I love the Boston marathon and watch from the same spot every year. The day of the marathon bombing I watched at my usual place and had a good friend runn
... moreing the race that day. Like most people who live in the greater Boston area, I was deeply affected by the bombing and the events that followed. And I always wondered what happened to the guy in the wheelchair with the guy in the cowboy hat in the now iconic picture. For those reasons, I found this book interesting, but other than that it was a very average read. less

I loved the book and his honesty. The ending was short of expectations, but the book was wonderful.
