review 1: The premise of this book was what pulled me in, it had an interesting aspect to it and it was something that I had never read before. This is a dystopia book about the future of the United States now known as the Nation, and the strict rules they had to follow. It was the first time a book containing stuff on prison stuff and criminals caught my attention but regardless of that, I still would have liked to know more of the history of how the Nation came to be, and what year the story was taking place. Other than that, it was a good well written story that had some quirks that I believe needed to be fixed.I found it hard to believe that the MC knew a lot of things from the outside world. I mean sure, the Jail Babies got an education and were taught things about the Nation a... morend whatnot but since they were being brainwashed, it was hard to believe they would be taught about trivial things. Like a date, why would they teach that in the prison? How did she know that? I expected her to be confused about some things but nope, she just knew about them and no questions about the outside because she, for some reason, knew everything or something. As hard as that was to believe, it was even harder to read about her stupid naïvety. At times I found myself wanting to hit her for so stupid and innocent and believing that the Nation could do no wrong and that it was established for the greater good of its citizens. I let it slide since I knew she was being brainwashed but then when the truth was revealed about what really happened with her parents to get them locked up in prison, it opened up her eyes to the real world and why people called it Prison Nation.Apart from all that, It was nice to see her interact with the people around her, like Jude, Reed, Orrin, and Eddie, that thing that happened to him was sad, but either way, with that sort of cliffhanger ending, I can't wait for the next book, Lady Justice, to come out (speaking of which, I get the feeling that the Lady Justice is some sort of group/organization and we've probably already meet one of the leaders or something). Hopefully the next book will be more explanatory of the past history and stuff that was left unanswered in this book.
review 2: I thought this was a great book I can't wait to read lady liberty when it comes out. I finished this in 3 days. I could not put it down. If you want a good book to read this is it. A lot of mystery drama and some romance but it will keep u reading to find out what is going to happen. Millie is a prison baby she was born in prison because her parents were locked up but it is strange because the whole world changed in this book the laws are strict there are no judges or lawyers u guilty no trial no nothing if u commit a crime so simple as eating an apple from a tree that belongs to someone else you will be locked up just for that. I will not give away too much but read it!!!!!! less
