review 1: Loved this story! Although, at times it was a little painful as I can totally empathize with Kylie. I felt the same way she does, and I also pursued my life's goal of education with an eye singly towards it. Her story mirrors mine is so many ways, it was quite scary, but at the same time it was refreshing to be reminded that God helped me the same was He was guiding Kylie. Totally enjoyable, engaging, clean read! Wonderful!
review 2: Yes, I've been reading a lot of fluff lately. And sadly, I feel compelled to comment on the fluff.That's the tragedy of getting a degree in English literature, it is practically obligatory to analyze everything you read, even fluff.Picket Fence Pursuit is a love story of two sincere Christian young adults. The message of trust... moreing that God will provide is the dominant theme in this book. I don't have a problem with the message, but I think at times, the author went a little out of bounds. Her main character is often criticized for trying to overcome the poverty of her upbringing by seeking education and good employment to not only help her parents and siblings, but also to ensure some safety. I'm sure the author didn't intend for it to be a criticism. However, other characters, whose choices weren't always wise or practical are often praised for being so trusting and believing in God's provision. I honestly fail to see how being practical and wise in preparation is failing to trust in God. That's the real issue I had with the book. God doesn't always save us or even protect us from not lively providently or wisely. less
