review 1: Honestly this is not one of my favorite graphic novels. The illustrations are not that impressive and I did not get much of the humor in this story. This is not a rich text but it does follow some sort of plot. Even though it is slow moving there are some good messages about not quitting and working hard. It sort of has a Bad News Bears sort of feel, but I felt the text could be stronger and more engaging.
review 2: Squish is chosen as the captain of the soccer team, The Water Fleas. When they keep losing their games, he receives some expert advice from his father, and realizes that it is up to him to create a plan to make them into winners. Using Squish's plans, The Water Fleas start winning their games, and become winners. But, they are not happy. So, Squish
... more allows them to play as they want, even though they become losers again. At least, the team finishes the term in 4th place.------------------------ I quite enjoyed this one, and hope that Decatur's Library will get more volumes of this series. less

You had me at The Water Fleas for the name of a soccer team. Could not stop laughing about that.

Cute addition to the Squish series with a nice teamwork moral. Another hit for Holm and Holm.
