review 1: I liked that elements of this book were different ie Logan being a homeless drug addict and essentially the "one who needed saving". I enjoyed the book throughout, apart from the ending and more particularly the reasons given for certain people's actions (sorry for being vague, trying to avoid spoilers). The ending seemed a little rushed and the reasons given behind it a little tenuous. That said overall I enjoyed the book and plan to read the next one.
review 2: 2.5 stars.I had high hopes for this one, but after about 50 pages, thing went downhill. Which is a shame, because the premise, drug addicts meets ancient vampire lord, was highly original. Their names bothered me a lot: Kerestyan and Odin. Supposedly blood brothers, with names that obviously originate ... morefrom different cultures. The original Odin, Allfather, known as the wisest god in Norse mythology: In this book he was reduced to a quarrelsome, immature acting... taylor... in a medieval costume? Nu-uh... Frankly, I don't understand what the Nelek family sees in Logan, a detached drug addict and a thief. Lord Stefan hasn't found anyone worthy in 500 years. If this powerful master vampire, who can see reincarnated souls and the fate of humans, finds her worthy just because she's accepted responsibility for her failures in life, he must've lost all faith in humanity in general, or simply lost his ancient mind to dementia. Because, seriously? Had he admitted to picking her because of his son's feelings for her, I'd get it, but no. Still the beginning and ending wasn't all bad. The middle part should have gone through some major revisions, though. Not a series I'm eager to continue. less
