review 1: More like 3.5 stars...a fascinating read, especially for those of us who grew up with the preconceived notion that the scriptures speak univocally regarding issues of relationships, family systems and sexuality...the book tries a bit too hard at times to make connections that are a bit tenuous, and all the minutia regarding stuff like the multiplicity of meanings and purposes for bodily fluids gets somewhat tedious, but I appreciate the breadth of scope and insight presented. A worthwhile read for anyone interested in the scriptural materials pertaining to sexuality.

Some reviewers on other sites have commented it felt dry, but it didn't come across that way to me. Not a bad read. Not one I'd necessarily recommend a lot though. (Was flipping between 2.5 and 3 for this book). less
