review 1: I quite enjoyed My Secret Sister, maybe more so because it is a true story. The writing style is simple and direct. I didn't have a problem flipping back and forth between the two stories being told. My only wish would be that the ending would reveal more of the reasons why these two sisters were separated at birth. I'm still wondering why one was kept and the other given up for adoption. How did the mother decide which one to keep? Why did she give up one? I'm assuming that the sisters never found these answers in their investigations.
review 2: I didn't realise this was a true story when I first started reading it. I found the narrative voices of the two characters identical and it was then I read the blurb in more detail and I realised it was a ghostw... moreritten true life account. It's an interesting story (and moving when you consider this happened in real life) but sadly the storytelling is bland and this reads more like a magazine article than a book. It's an oversight to narrate the two voices exactly the same as each other. less
