review 1: This book reminds me why I love YA literature. Cady is smart, independent, and easy to relate to; a heroine I rooted for from the start. This novel is full of drama (but not the typical high school drama) which includes divorce, substance abuse, death, first love, and paranormal activity. After finishing "Arcadia's Gift" I immediately started reading the sequel, "Arcadia's Curse." I'd recommend this novel to anyone who enjoys YA lit.
review 2: I LOVED this book. I literally could not put it down. From page one onwards I had the strange feeling that it had been written for me. Weird. But I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels that way. That's because of Jesi Lea Ryan's ability to "talk" to the reader. Authors start conversations with strangers all the time, an
... mored I really liked this one. The heartbreaking account of Cady losing her sister (that brought tears to my eyes), the pain and frustration that floods the house, Cady's mom trying to cope in a terrible -but understandable- way, quiet Bryan hitchhiking his way through high school to young love, the revelation and evolution of Cady's powers. IT IS GREAT! Sadness and joy all in one packet. Her descriptions and her use of metaphor are gorgeous, like a beautiful soundtrack to a great story. I especially remember this one: "Around me, the flowery language filled the air like the scent of a perfume at a funeral." (speechless)Please, keep talking to us, Mrs. Ryan. less
