review 1: This was one of the best books I've read in awhile. So unexpected and unpredictable. It is definitely outside of my usual go-to genre of reading but I am so happy I took a chance.All I can say, is that just when you think you have the story figured out, the book will prove you wrong. I listened to the audiobook, and at one point I thought it was going to be the end of the book and I looked down noticing I still had 6 more hours!
review 2: This book was like a fast-paced Sherlock Holmes meets the best pair of shoes in a store.Ruby Rose is a seventeen-year-old girl dealing with the recent loss of her father and the recent loss of her mother, although the losses are different. She is trying to make a comeback into a normal teen life, except she's keeping an eye on... more some unusual suspects--five dispicably criminal men, who have escaped the justice system due to making deals with her DA mom.Her best friend Alana (calls her Rubik's Cube--how cute) doesn't know what to do with Ruby. She refuses to hang out and resume life as a normal teen. Even as she tries to set Liam--the hot guy and football player at school--up for a date. I'd go into the mysteries more, but I'd hate to spoil anything. However, I will say that every chapter added questions, every twist was something new to the story. As soon as you think you know one of the characters, you realize you were so wrong. Time and time again this happened. Not with just one person, but almost every character here including Ruby herself.This was an enjoyable read. Can't wait for book two later this year...the waiting game will be no fun as I still have questions that need answers. Definitely give this a read, especially if you like a girly-girl who is into guns and karate chops. I didn't think it was my thing, but this story has persuaded me to think otherwise. less
