review 1: Uffda! A wonderful entertaining read. First read by this author and throughly enjoyed it. I picked this book from the NOOK reviews. Torsten first spots the recently widowed Ainslin 2 years before and knew she was meant for him. He displays amazing determination as he petitions the king for 2 years for her hand. He even gives up the pleasures of the flesh for those 2 years....what a man! He wins her hand and they are married by proxy. Ainslin has a huge secret that could spell the end for her, Torsten, and her twin sons. But Torsten ends up being a super sexy Viking along with being a great guy and leader of men. But there are evil forces at work trying to break them up: his stepsister, her admirer, and her maid.....who can they trust? The emotional interaction i... mores well written and there are really no 'dead spots'. This book is super sexy, fast paced, short, easy to follow, and fun read. Sure will be reading the rest of the series.
review 2: Two-and-a-half stars is generous for this short slice of historical fiction. It's not that it's bad, but that there isn't much there to do anything with. A sexy alpha-male who gets to claim the bride of his choice and all that that entails, a wedding night with a virgin, two step sons whom are neither his nor his wife's, and a packaged enemy who never offers any real threat. However, there is the happily ever after with one born child and another on the way. I am at a loss as to what the goal of the plot was supposed to be? It started off well, but really wound up going nowhere. less
