review 1: I am not usually one for reading books from the male point of view. The books that I have encountered written as such were all testeroney (yes that's what I said) and kind pf crap. But I enjoyed TSN. There were a lot of moments through out the book where I would find myself laughing out loud and thinking some of the comments Luke would make sounded like something my husband would say. I am very glad I gave it a chance and am excited to read so much more from J.J.
review 2: I'm really not sure how to rate this. It's not a solid three, but had elements to tip the scale up instead of down. I loved that this book was all male point of view. It was a nice change. However, I just couldn't get into it. I definitely balled like a baby hearing his history and
... morecurrent good friend. After that, the best word I can use to describe this book is anticlimactic.I found the style of writing to be more reflective, which I enjoy feeling like I'm in the moment with them. So that didn't work. I think Luke almost comes off as being potentially paranoid, but not not enough to prevent his actions. They were a lot of loose ends that did not get tied up in the end. I was was excited to read it for the publicity that it got, but it missed my mark completely. I enjoyed Luke, loved Holly, and April I think could have made some better choices. For a debut novel, I think it's a good starting place. less
