review 1: Audrey is not a normal teen even though she fights to have a normal life right from the start. She fights to have healthy relationships with both her mom (who has disappeared for the whole novel) and her sister a blossoming rock star. She also has a cute love interest that intrigues me in more ways than the normal love interest because of what he is capable of doing. I keep asking myself if this is what true love is meant to mean, or if there is something else behind, something we haven't discovered yet. And yes, I will come for more, I want to know what happens to Audrey but also to her best friend Bridget, her sister Meg, Saddie, Julian and even Dallas. I want to see how both Bridget and Meg handle the aftermath of the party and how Audrey juggles her normal life with th... moree rest of what's happening to her.
review 2: I'm not the intended audience for this book. I'm too old and male. I read it because I was attracted by the title, for I was looking for something light. My body had been invaded by a foul seasonal virus, and kittens, rainbows, and butterflies were the most I wanted to handle. Kittens do show up, but the book is darker than I had hoped. It also has a strong teen romance element, which I could have done without. But I don't hold any of the above against the book. As I said, I'm not the intended audience. What I do hold against the book is the actions of the main character. She is established as being highly intelligent. She gets good grades in school, and she is bucking for Harvard. Her well developed sense of responsibility is pointed out multiple times. Unfortunately, almost every decision she makes in the story is bad. The author tries to rationalize these decisions, but it doesn't work. These simply aren't the actions of an intelligent and responsible person, even at the age of seventeen.I could have bought one or two mistakes brought on by youth and inexperience, but the book has a stupidity driven plot. It's the easiest to write, but I find them unenjoyable to read, and in this case it is also an inconsistency that destroyed my sense of disbelief. There are a few fun bits. The cousin character is intriguing, some of the fantasy ideas are interesting, and I did enjoy seeing the world through the eyes of the protagonist when she wasn't acting like a fool. less
