review 1: Can I give zero stars? Wow, thank goodness for the library and the fact that I didn't have to pay for this. As it was, got through five chapters...total waste of time that I will never get back.Maybe he knows his stuff and possibly has a good story. But anything of value is completely buried under f-bombs, tales of getting stoned and "banging" with "chicks" and "broads". Author's words, not mine. What a dreadful creep.
review 2: Overall I enjoyed this book. I've worked in restaurants my entire career so I liked hearing about Joe's family lore and the bounty of his restaurant empire. However I did find him to be a bit full of himself and he name dropped - which doesn't bother me - except when he bad mouthed folks. If you're going to bad mouth someone I don't thi... morenk you should use their full name in your memoir. He also has a bit of a potty mouth - but so do I!It was a quick read and definitely made me want to hop on a plane to NYC and eat at all of his restaurants and go shopping at Eataly. less
