review 1: I like reading a book where I am kinda familiar with the locations, music, era! So this book did all 3 things! I have lots of respect for Joe and his family! And the way he considers Steven Tyler his brother is very moving.Joe Perry has kept it real in this memoir,I just went out and bought a remastered cd of Rocks and i also loved all the photographs in this book!Well wrtitten and it makes you really like the man!
review 2: I like Aerosmith, but that's that, so this book was full of stories I didn't know but that maybe were well known for big fans. I liked learning how Perry's interest in music grew and and what type of music continues inspiring him to this day. The sleazy stories are kept to a minimum, which can be good or bad, depending on what you want in a
... more rock memoir. The complaining about others, especially Steven Tyler, is too much at times. Perry himself acknowledges his own arrogance, yet he does not take any fault in any of the conflicts within the band.I didn't know that Aerosmith's return was fueled by third-party writers. It seems to me that this was Geffen project and they just needed an image around it, with the music handled by the likes of Desmond Child. All in all it was a good read. less
