review 1: In this fourth installment set on Greenstalk farm, where chickens and cows first came to the rescue, Ernie the duck is the hapless hero ready to help out here. As he tries to get pumpkins to the market, rescue a calf caught in the barn rafters, babysit chicks, and play soccer, among other things, young readers will see that it is Ernie that needs rescuing instead of the other way around. Each of his attempts at helping out ends with chaos and humor. Finally, a sympathetic lamb leads Ernie to a successful and sweet rescue. Young children will enjoy this lively story with its unlikely protagonist, comical situations and simple refrain. The vivid and revealing watercolor and pencil illustrations keep text to a minimum. Order if you have fans of this se... moreries.
review 2: A well-meaning duck tries to help out around the farm, but he always ends up either making things worse or having to be rescued himself. The illustrations are cute, with a duck who bears a strong resemblance to the AFLAC duck, both in appearance and behavior. The subtle hints that the lamb is watching and feeling sorry for the duck all through the book may be too subtle to make the ending entirely clear. This is the continuation of "Chickens to the Rescue less

Cute tale of a duck who tries to help - even though it rarely goes well.
