review 1: Interesting story about Will Heller a paranoid schizophrenic teen on his trip thru subways and tunnels with his mother, Violet Heller, and a missing persons specialist, Ali Lateef, trying to find him before he hurts another person and/or himself. John Wray presents a very believable mentally ill young man (Lowboy) with insights into his thought processes! AND, there is another interesting element as the pursuit draws to an end!
review 2: My initial reaction to this novel was that Wray is a brilliant writer. I found Lowboy's voice fresh and quirky, that is, believable. But as I progressed I became bored. The novel failed to develop. The detective, I thought, was going to provide a counter-balance to Lowboy's voice, but (especially after the detective wa

Boredom enveloped me; I simply did not care. I picked up other books. I read them. I kept reading other books and never got back to Lowboy.Eventually, I realized that I was never going to finish reading this novel. Almost unheard of in my life, to be about two-thirds finish and walk away from it. less
