review 1: José Rodrigues dos Santos' books were very famous but still new to me until now. A Vida num Sopro was a pleasant and a satisfying read. It has war scenes, which don't really draw me in - it is the second book I read with war scenes and I just disconnect at those, so I'm guessing it is not for me -, but the over all is, for me, a really complete book. The kind of writing and plot that I adore because it explores the whole life of the main character at an interesting depth. We get to know about every, or almost all, aspects of this character and all the details make it a passionate, enjoyable and fulfilling read. Definitely going to explore more of this author's work.
review 2: What a rip-roaring disappointment. Actually, someone warned me about this author, b
... moreut i was attracted by the theme of the early Salazar years. and in fact there is some interesting information, as well as some interesting stuff about the Spanish Civil War, as a kind of secondary story. But all in all, this book is poorly written, full of clichés, and just generally an annoying read. However, I did make it through all 611 pages, as it is also an easy read. The author had good information and some good themes; too bad he didn't hire a real novelist to write it for him. less

Foi mesmo um "sopro", leitura fácil e identificação de um período da nossa história.

Emotivo. Fluído. Bem estruturado. Maior qualidade da escrita na parte final.
