review 1: I have a feeling this series is going to be a 4 stars across the board!!! Taylor and Will are just to entertaining to pass up when choosing a book to read!!! They love...they fight...they love...one of them gets shot or beaten or both of the get beaten...or one of them gets kidnapped...seeing a pattern here...yeah, thought so!!! Josh Lanyon is a very talented writer technically and his stories are usually very entertaining...I really enjoyed the fight scene...it reminded me of an old James Bond or Chuck Norris movie fight...it was sooooo ridiculous...but you can't help but want Taylor to look over the edge...just to make sure the "bad guy" isn't coming back!!! haha I am hoping Will finds a little tact and some sensitivity in the next book...but not holding my breath...h... moree can be such an idiot...and WHAT was up with that kiss with Bradley...yep...Will's an idiot!!!
review 2: Old Poison begins soon after the events of Dangerous Ground. Taylor is still recovering from a bullet wound, and though he is already reincorporated to service, he is stuck with desk work. Will is working in a new case which pairs him with an old lover, Lieutenant Commander David Bradley. Bradley has a big relevance in Will’s past, because it was this relationship what triggered Taylor’s revelations and the events which ultimately lead to Will and Taylor being together. This wreaks havoc on Taylor’s feelings. He is still uncertain about Will being one hundred per cent into the relationship. At the same time, Taylor’s life seems to be endangered by something related to his past. Although he does not seem to take it very seriously at the beginning, the danger turns out to be a real one by the end of the story. Old Poison, as the title implies, is about the past threatening the present, in both physical and emotional levels. There is physical danger for Taylor coming from a story from the past, but there is also an emotional risk from Will’s unresolved story with Bradley. They must learn to trust each other to overcome any hindrance they may meet in their relationship. Things are not easy for these two characters, and that’s why I really like them. Moving from friends to lovers implies a big effort and changes in the way they see each other, and also the way they work together. I really like the way Lanyon depicts his characters’ emotions, the way things are not perfect even though the characters are in love… so similar to what happens in real life: relationships are not easy, and love is not everything… I fear for Will and Taylor, I am not sure they will be able to make it… Just looking forward to find out what happens in the next book. less
