review 2: The hero of this book is Simon, one of the guys who came out of a cave 50 years after the world went through a catastrophic change, having not aged at all and having picked up some special powers. Simon was a bad ass bodyguard/enforcer for a mob kingpin in his former life. While most of the guys morn the loss of family and friends, Simon sees this as a second chance to have a better life where he doesn't have to kill and intimidate. He starts to think he might have a chance to be with the beautiful and intelligent computer-geek Sage Corrigan, but fears he'll just hurt her if she finds out about his past.Sage spends most of her time working with the ancient computers that the survivors are trying to cobble together into a new network. When an opportunity comes up to expand the network to her old settlement, she volunteers herself and Simon to go. The only hitch is they have to pretend to be married.This is a great series about a post-apocalyptic world. Who caused the disasters? Where did the zombie-like gangas come from, and why are they searching for Remington Truth? Each book answers more of the questions, but brings up many more. less
