review 1: What a fun little story! I picked this book up because I've been getting tired of the somewhat repetitive storylines in my PNR books since I read so much. And all my romantic suspense books are beginning to run into each other. I can hardly remember the story right after I've finished. So I knew I needed something different, something maybe quirky. Julia Harper's "For the Love of Pete" sure fit the bill! While this one did include FBI agents and the Mob, it also featured Zoey, a free-spirited corkscrew curls redhead who desperately loves her sister's daughter, Pete (go ahead and try to figure out what girl's name that comes from; trust me, you probably won't guess it) and will do anything to get her back when she's snatched up to prevent her daddy from testifying again... morest Tony the Rose on Monday.Dante (our strong & silent FBI agent) is caught up in the chase for Pete when Zoey jumps into his Beemer as he rushes off the find the kid. No way is she being dumped off; and now its not just the Mob hit man after them but turncoat Feebs and purchased police too because Dante's job is not just to protect his witness, who won't testify witout his child back, its to find where the corruption in Chicago's FBI office is.During this wild and wintery chase, they meet two old Indian aunties who are pretty darn hysterical, Neil and Neil Jr., a Polish hitman and many more. Of course along the way, Zoey and Dante fall in love, and you will fall in love along the way. This book was a wonderful choice to read this breezy Texas weekend!
review 2: Well . . . . I didn't exactly "read" this book. I started it and couldn't finish. The 4 letter words put me off and then the "f" word came up, so I quit reading it. I can't believe that an author has to stoop so low as to use this kind of language. From the back cover, this book looked like it had an interesting story, but I'll never know how it played out, because of the language. less
