review 1: Unfortunately this book suffers from being an unintended sequel. "Shit my Dad Says" was brilliant because it had no grand purpose other than telling some truly funny and insightful stories. That unfortunately is missing this time around. The book does have a few excellent passages that made me laugh out loud and the best is saved for last. Yet it feels as if it was written to fulfill a contractual obligation more than the purpose of saying something. There must be another great book in Halpern's future but we will have to wait for it.
review 2: Extremely lightweight book about an unremarkable middle-class white guy growing up and learning about girls and women. I give it a higher rating because I laughed throughout. Sure, the stories are pretty common but with ... moreHalpern's own twists — such as finding the porn stash of some homeless guy in the woods and being chased, only to have your father make you return it because the guy obviously spent a lot of time collecting it. But I'm an unremarkable middle-class white guy so maybe I relate to the stories better than some. As with Halpern's first book, every sentence uttered by his father is pure gold. less
