review 1: Ihan viihdyttävä (nuorten) aikuisten epookkidraama, jonka kolme viimeistä osaa (8-10) ovat oikeastaan lisäosia, joissa keskitytään päähenkilöiden sijaan pikemminkin sivuhenkilöiden tarinoihin. Yhtäkaikki melko hyvä tarina hiukan hidasta alkua lukuun ottamatta. Sarjassa seurataan orvon palvelijatytön ja rikkaan nousukasperheen pojan romanssia viktoriaanisessa Englannissa, mistä voi jo päätellä, että kovasti on dramaattisia juonikuvioita luvassa. Kuvissa on paljon historiallisesti pikkutarkkoja yksityiskohtia ja jokaisen osan loppukevennyksenä on tekijän hilpeät jälkisanat.
review 2: They're back!!!! Great happiness all around for me to open the book and see Emma and William again. I love how much there is to read into with the looks between... more and among the two of them. I'm disappointed that the end propelled so much into the future, and have my doubts as to how accurate some of the historical aspects are (e.g. hairstyles, phrases, inventions). Happy with the wedding. Hated the reception. I was still trying to figure out who was who with the aging and couldn't tell who was being portrayed. I also didn't like the focus on other people rather than the two main characters, or how so many things seemed left open. I would prefer closure, but this way does allow for me to imagine up some of my own endings. less
