review 1: Lovely, lovely hurt/comfort/ kink. Not torture porn, not formulaic bdsm (come into my dungeon while I interview you to ascertain your hard limits so that we can commence our power exchange at 2000 hrs.....gah!). Blue is a bratty but vulnerable sub, Derek a commanding Dom with a tender side and his own frailties to conceal. The relationship these two develop is complex, sweet and incredibly sexy. I really look forward to reading more in the world of Blue Ruin. Ahem, I might just add that, while reading, you might need to put your fingers in your ears and go "la, la, not listening" while squeezing your eyes closed cos, safe sex, what is that?
review 2: Ok, somehow I kept passing this by seeing as how I had already rated it, and I gave it a 2 star. I'm thinkin... moreg it had to be bad because I never give a 2 star. But this series kept coming up as a suggested read on other books that I have really liked and I thought, what the heck....I'll give it another shot. Imagine my surprise when I realized I have NOT read this book! I feel so terrible about leaving a poor rating on a book that I had never read. Not sure how that happened, but I read a LOT and rate a lot of books as well. Ok, as for the book itself....very good. Working my way through the rest of the series, but this was a very good start. Thoroughly enjoyed it. Love me some Blue and Derrick has just enough Dom mixed with his soft heart that makes you fall a little in love with him too. 4 star! less
