review 1: At first I found Kelle's breezy even kind of flippant narrative voice a bit off-putting but over time and a series of really scary and horrible situations (and duded) I started to like her and realize I mistook her real and yet markedly teenage bravery as nonchalance. Even as she embarks on a decidedly adult adventure through old New York's sordid underbelly, she is a kid who really likes animals and little children and makes band-aids out of newspaper and I really liked that.As her memoir becomes more entrenched in Buddy's murder trial towards the end, I did lose interest a bit--wishing that Kelle had just stuck with her own story.
review 2: I thought that this book was well written and easy to relate to. i loved reading about this young girls journey through
... more life, and how she survives even if she did have a very rough childhood. It shows that people can make it through anything, no matter what gets thrown at them. This book also gives many good life lesson that i took into consideration, i would have to say this is one of my favorite books. less
