review 1: This kind of... sucked. I've been following Kelly Oxford on Twitter for a couple of years and have always found her to be funny, but in this book she came off as pretty full of herself and that was her downfall. Narcissism can work as an attribute to an unreliable narrator or simply as a character flaw in a novel, but it doesn't work in a memoir. Sorry, Kelly, but as a reader, it was just plain unattractive. I didn't feel like I wanted to be on her side (not that there was much to take her side on anyways...). I didn't cheer for her. I wasn't impressed by her meeting David Copperfield (spoiler?). Probably the only time I smiled while reading this was at her expense, but that was quickly interrupted by her whining. And like others have said, the book felt directionless and ... moremostly pointless. I'm not sure she knew what she was supposed to be doing. I think she should probably stick to 140 character or less. Books just aren't her medium. I'll say this, it was worth the $1.99 I spent on it during Amazon's sale, if only so that I know to skip any of her future publications.(I feel bad posting this because it comes off as a little harsh but what can I do? It's the truth.)
review 2: I didn't know much about Kelly Oxford before picking this book up in a Kindle super sale, so I went into this with no expectations. While some essays were stronger than others and some went on a bit too long (I'm looking at you, the one about wandering stoned on a remote Candian island), overall I liked it a lot. Good balance of funny and genuinely touching. I laughed out loud while reading it on the subway multiple times. less

Can relate to the last story about Disneyland. They should've paid me.

Funny stuff. Nothing terribly profound, but genuine, smart, and snarky.
