review 1: I was gifted this book not knowing what it was about. Well I am glad it was gifted to me. I really like the book. I was intrigued. The beginning had a great start to get you caught up to keep reading. It started out as a murder investigation that led to the BDSM world. An ex-military man, Conner, is caught up in this world but is also an investigator for the murder case that is linked to this world. Lauren is a vendor that supplies "toys" adorned with jewels for the clubs and doesn't even realize that she is a target until she meets Conner. There is a connection between the two. They hit it off but Lauren tells Conner she wants to keep it casual. At the time he doesn't know that she had tried to be a part of that work at one time. She starts to feel more for him and gives ... morehim an ultimatum, scene with her or it is over. Conner has a trust issue that goes way back and does not want their casual thing to go any further until Lauren is in danger and can't stop thinking about her. I was not expecting the murder plot to turn out the way it did nor was I expecting Conner and Lauren's story to end the way it did.I guess you will just have to read it to see how it all comes out.
review 2: When former Marine, Connor Ortega, was ordered into the offices of Crest Security Agency on a Saturday morning, he didn’t expect the latest case to hit so close to home. A submissive has been murdered in a particularly vicious manner and to bring her killer to justice, he must go undercover. Not hard to do considering he’s already part of the BDSM lifestyle.Lauren Bailey, a local vendor of bejeweled erotic implements, lives vicariously through her clients due to her fear of bondage. When Connor’s dominant side can’t resist trying to ease her anxieties, she accepts his proposal and agrees to his one stipulation...keep things casual. When the killer sets his sights on Lauren, Connor is forced rethink their relationship. He has the training it takes to catch a murderer, but does he have the courage to escape his inner demons and capture Lauren’s heart?CSA Case Files...Crest Security Agency (CSA) is run by Gavin Crest, a retired Marine Master Sergeant. He has personally selected his own former military team members, both men and women, to configure a seamless Special Operations Capable (SOC) unit. Working together on investigations, domestically and abroad, each team member will find their niche in life and love. Follow along as Kennedy Layne conveys each of their stories as they work together on investigations that lead them down perilous paths of passion, intrigue and suspense....The inaugural book in this series launches you into the fast paced world at Crest Security Agency.I thought this book was a fantastic and engaging read.It never lagged and the author pulled you in with her intricate and colorful descriptions of Connor’s post military life. He knows who he is, and he is intent on successfully completing his assignment.I loved Lauren Bailey. Shes smart, self aware, and independent. When these two meet, there is spark. But, Connor is on assignment and undercover. How can this ever work? And that is just the beginning.Kennedy Layne has pulled me in. I am hooked. less
