review 1: Nearly anthropological example of a very common sort of growing up in the 70s and 80s, except stitched through with disturbing threads. There is scary stuff in here, and it is for the most part front-loaded, then allowed to push the surface on occasion. In the more common experiences that are recollected, it also serves as a reminder of the reasons most of us do our best not to open those particular pathways. A few tonal errors attempt to lighten the mood but seem like lapses in editing.
