Maxi just inherited a house from her grandmother but everyone seems to be bothered with that. On top of that, there are some strange things happening around the house and even though she tries to keep a strong appearance, she can’t ignore it anymore when she wakes up in the middle of the night in her garden with no memory of how she got there. So, now she will have to ask for help to the only man she trusts: Miles, the man who used to rock her world in bed.
“Is there anything you’re not good at?”
“Resisting you.” He kissed her again. “I suck at that.”
So, remember what I said about a change of scenario in my review of Hard Justice? It is still not happening in this book. The bodyguard stills fall in love with the client, but, there’s a twist! They already knew each other before this assignment. And they knew each other intimately (if you know what I mean). Which means that this book is sexier and all kinds of hotter than the previous books of the series. Which is a plus!
Storyline: she’s pretty scared after waking up in her garden at night so she hires Miles since he’s a bodyguard and someone she already trusts. And with that, he stays at her house 24/7 to make sure that nothing happens to her, day or night! Regarding the case, in this book, we pretty much don’t know who the threat is until the end of the book (at least I couldn’t figure out who it was sooner).
Miles is also an MMA fighter or was until he starting working for the Body Armor. He’s the kind of man with an easy, lazy smile (totally swooning right?), with a body to die for and a heart made of soft
Maxi is probably the most independent woman of the series so far, which means that it’s not easy for her to lean on Miles.
So, all in all, this book is my favorite one so far! I think that the fact that they have a background together changes the book a lot when compared to the previous ones!
