review 1: HATE the mother in the book, obviously the father too. I'm happy the author is still close with Gina....and I got really sad when I read the "about the author" at the very end - it says the author lives with her husband and daughter, so she must have lost one of her twins. :(Really hard book to read but really amazing that she channeled everything and used positive outlets instead of the usual destructive ones.
review 2: This was by no means my usual type of read but was glad that my class required to read a book about child abuse and neglect because this was such a great book! It was so sickening to know what Brooke and her siblings endured at the hands of their parents. I had so many emotions going throughout this book that I thought I was going to explode.Th... moree strength that Brooke showed in order to fight back was so inspiring. I really hope people get something out of this book, whether they are, have been, or even know someone who's been a victim of abuse and/or neglect. less
