There are exceptionally five Wednesdays this month. That means I get to choose two genres outside of the typical 3 that I look at for the new releases. First up is the romance genre. If you scroll through my blog’s homepage, you’ll see I read a lot of romance. It’s a genre I like because it generally doesn’t require a lot of attention and it’s not books that you really have to dive into. After a few chapters, you can predict most of what will happen next and you know who will be getting their happily ever after. But since I love HEA’s so much, I don’t mind that one bit! Also, I read a lot on public transport, which is perfect for these kinds of books. So, without any further ado, let’s take a look at Goodreads’ list of 5 new releases in the romance genre. Other new releases of November 2017 can be found by genre right here on Goodreads.

Five years. I would’ve stayed away longer if I hadn’t received the letter. Not a day has gone by that I haven’t thought about her, haven’t missed her smile, haven’t wished that things were different. The last time I saw my two best friends, I vowed to not stand in the way of their happiness, even if that meant I couldn’t be a part of their lives. Cameron James and her emerald-green eyes were too much of a temptation and I couldn’t stay and watch them together. Cameron deserved better than me. She deserved him. But now that I am back, things are different. I’m not going to stand by and watch the woman I’ve always loved slip away again. I’m done living my life with regrets and I’m ready to tell her the truth. And I’ll do whatever it takes to show her that I always wished she was mine.

Former free spirit Zoe Collins swore she’d never again set foot in Copper Creek or speak to the man who broke her heart. But return she must when her beloved Granny dies, leaving the family legacy to Zoe–a peach orchard nestled at the base of the Blue Ridge Mountains. When Zoe returns home with her daughter and boyfriend Kyle, she finds that she’s the only person in town who doesn’t expect her to give up the life she’s established far away from Copper Creek. Everyone believes she was born to run the orchard, but how can she make it her home after so many years? Cruz Huntley never quite got over his first love Zoe Collins, the little sister of his best friend Brady. Not when she cheated on him during their “break,” not when she took off to parts unknown with good-for-nothing Kyle Jenkins, and not even now—five years later. As life-changing decisions and a history with Cruz hang over Zoe’s head, tensions rise between her and Kyle. Even as she comes to terms with the shifting relationships in her life, Zoe still isn’t sure if she can remain in Copper Creek with her new responsibilities . . . and her first love.
Hmm, I can already predict what’s happening in the first book, and I haven’t even read the first chapters yet. I don’t mind predictability in romances, but when I know everything from the blurb on, I’m not that interested. Boy and girl best friends, secretly in love. Second boy comes in, also falls in love with girl but he doesn’t hesitate and tells her. Second boy and girl marry and first boy leaves. Second boy dies and asks first boy to come back to love their girl and get their happily ever after. Bleh! Not for me this one! Also, the reviews aren’t very good and people seem to want to love it, but find it hard to connect with the story and/or characters. As for the second book, it doesn’t seem like something I’d want to read either. I’m not against romance novels between men and I’ve read some reallly good ones but this one doesn’t capture my interest. An ex-army guy struggling to adjust to the real world again, meets a screwed-up kid who’s in a relationship with a crime lord. They fall in love and try to escape, bringing themselves more pain and violence. They’ll probably find some magical way out of it in the end and get their HEA, but I don’t want to find out how that happens. Book number three is definitely going on my to-read list! It’s described as a laugh-out-loud romantic comedy, what’s not to love about that?! I’ve also put book four on my to-read list, but a little further downwards. Not because the story doesn’t sound good, because it totally does, but because I’m a little bit perturbed by how much the cover reminds me of The Selection series. And boy, that fifth book is an amazing ending to this list! I love small time romance stories, so this one ended up very high on my to-read list!
How about you? Are you putting any of these books on your to-read list?
Happy reading,
Loes M.
