review 1: I was intrigued from the beginning as I have been interested myself in taking this journey.I really enjoyed his description of the many aspects of the walk: the walk itself, the people he met, the challenges, the lodging and food. It all added up to a complete picture of the experience, and he really made me want to do this myself. My only letdown: throughout the book he shared the ongoing unsettledness of his relationship back home and let us in on his thoughts and fears. It was almost like a mystery because we couldn't wait until the end to find out how it was resolved. It was a bit of a letdown to just get a sentence about the resolution. I know that is his personal story and his to share. It may have been nice to hear more about it.
review 2: This was
... more an interesting and different read for me. The book tells the story of one man’s walk on the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route in Spain. The book was written in an upbeat, interesting manner which I thoroughly enjoyed. The pictures throughout the book really added to the overall story and the characters that Kurt met along the trail came to life as he described them. This isn’t one of those dynamic books that you are dying to read, but it’s a good, satisfying read that leaves you with a good feeling when it’s finished. less
