review 1: Simply beautiful and absolutely breathtaking......Yellow Crocus is a stunning story about love, loss and the beauty of beginning again. The pages of this novel are filled with such emotion that it's breathtaking. From the plot to the characters, every inch is beautifully written. Without a doubt in my mind, this is one book that begs to be read and remembered for years to come. A story that changes ones life and the way one looks at the world. A novel that reaches out an touches the soul . Yellow Crocus is Ms. Ibrahim's debut novel, I do so hope to see more from her in the future.
review 2: Excellent book and a very quick read. One easily becomes absorbed into the lives of Lisbeth and her wet nurse, Mattie. The novel is interesting on many levels as Lisbeth's m
... moreother is not permitted by the norms of the day for her social standing, to nurse her own child. The child then builds a unique bond with the woman who has raised her but is not her mother. As Lisbeth grows into adulthood, she begins to question aspects of her privileged life at the expense of others. I won't spoil the ending but must say that the author kept it interesting as she painted a realistic scenario in the epilogue of both women, again keeping with the societal norms of the times. less

2.5. This book had a lot more potential. Characters could have been developed more.

Although I liked the story, I found the writing stilted and simplistic.
