review 1: I really liked this book and I am not quite sure why. There's no real point to it.. it's just a collection of stories by Laura about her family and their every day antics. And yet I found it strangely intriguing and both fun and refreshing to read. Maybe because I can relate to her straight-forward personality (and writing style)? Maybe because I can appreciate that she is so committed to being herself and not conforming to other people's expectations? Maybe because I love that she is raising 5 boys in a 2 bedroom apartment in Manhattan (with a weekend house in the countryside)? This book won't appeal to everyone but I certainly found it both inspiring and hilarious.. a city life with a fun family, nannies, mannies, a great career, a country house and no guilty feelings?! ... moreYes please!
review 2: I was prepared for this book to be funnier than I found it. It does have points that are laugh-out-loud funny, but overall, I thought it was worth skimming through more than reading. I have a morbid sense of humor at times so I thought this book would be a lot of dark humour about parenthood. Instead, I found it was basically a book of complaints. And, the complaints she gave about having nannies and maids and whatever and still not having enough time in her day? Uh, no. I'm sure that's her reality, but...I don't care. less
