review 1: This is a book about confusion that is confused about what it wants to be. Tight writing this is not -- at any given time you have no idea what is going on with any of the characters, who drive the story to confusing extremes with little to no consistency or context. Reader's looking for a romp about a teen who pretends to be a lesbian to get her lesbian sister to come out will be disappointed -- what you get here is (SPOILER) a weird sister who acts weird and pretends to be gay but maybe she really is so her boy-crazy lesbian sister can hook up with her best friend at the end and btw she is so not gay but maybe she is. Yeah. I would be offended at yet another "bisexual but not really" teen book if this book actually made any character consistent enough to get mad at. ... more In the end nothing is explained and not much has changed, leading one to wonder what the hell they just experienced. Only for the deeply bored or the queer lit completionist.
review 2: Although it's sort of cute and charming in its own way, the novel seems hectic and sloppy. Some parts just didn't line up for me: a popular cheerleader wants the lead in the school play alongside her too-cool boyfriend and a couple of goth kids? And she and her sister went from being best friends to not talking? Rather than having real emotions, the characters seem to jump from one thing to another so I didn't feel like they were real in any way. less

This was a weird book from start to end. I hate the cover the more I look at it.
