review 1: Leandra Medine has officially become my idol. She grew up in New York City, attended a Jewish day school all her life, and was never afraid to express herself with poise, sass, and humor. Leandra has started a movement. The idea that high fashion repels men, can be a given. However, Leandra is able to go further into this concept and really offer a safe haven for girls to read her blog, and be inspired by her courage to go out into the world, and manage to not make the saying to"be yourself" too cliché. Leandra's memoir made me smile countless times and give me a desire to be her best friend and head down to her office in Noho, NYC for a daily coffee date. Although her writing rambled occasionally, and I was lost sometimes, I still think that this memoir was out of the bo... morex, fascinating and always left me wanting more.
review 2: I, too, have had a natural fixation on fashion since childhood. I also live in Manhattan and love shoes (duh). I have seen Leandra around Soho, enjoyed looking at her blog... but had only done so maybe 2 or 3 times. I chose to listen to this audiobook (read by Leandra) anyway, because I was curious to know more about her besides her affinity towards shorts and pants of the high-waisted variety. Well, I loved it. I am a painter and listen to books while I paint, and this one made me laugh AND cry. Productive hours flew by. It also put me in a really good mood. However, I am now sad it is over. MORE please! I enjoy the way she chooses to word her sentences. Funny girl, unique style. less
