2017 Advent Calendar Day 12

It’s time to crack open your advent calendars at home, and it’s time for the 2nd annual No Love For Fatties Advent Calendar.

Last year, I focused on music, and this year I’m going to focus on movies. I know – totally generic but whatever. I love Christmas movies!! And more so, the classics, the originals, the super obscure ones that I grew up watching on old VHS that we taped from the tv (yeah we totally did – don’t pretend you didn’t either!). Each day, there will be a post featuring a new movie that I enjoy watching. Maybe next year I’ll do something a little more original

Please note: there will be LOTS of gifs used so if you find them annoying, you have been warned.

Today’s movie is: The Nanny

Yes – you read that right! Remember the TV show The Nanny? Wasn’t it great?! I loved it. When people ask me my role models for being a nanny, first is always Mary Poppins – how could it not be?! But then it’s Fran from the Nanny. I want to be the one wearing red when everyone else is wearing tan. Just for the simple fact that it’s awesome to be original and be myself and not conform to society’s close-minded agenda.

Plus Charles Shaughnessy was super “dad hot” – or at least to pre-teenage T.

So this isn’t really a movie. It’s just one of the tv episodes that aired for the show. It was season 3, episode 14 and was called Oy to the world. Hehehe! Adorable!

It’s animated and Fran gets pulled out a window with Brighton (the only boy out of the 3 children she cared for) by CC’s dog (Chester) chasing a cat and gets hit on the head with one of those bells that the Good Will people use at their buckets. Being a good person, she donates money before passing out.

And then the magic happens!

ok I just want to take a quick little stop and say Giphy – when I’m looking for gif’s for the Nanny, why do you show me Chris Evans gifs? That makes no sense. Like sure he was in “The Nanny Diaries” but still….

you and giphy both…

Back on track!

So Fran gets pulled into this amazing world with hot chocolate rivers and candy everything. Think half North Pole and half Willy Wonka’s Factory.

She meets Santa, and his main Elf (who is an Elvis double) and they all need to save Christmas from the Adobimable CC. Who, once every 28 years, causes a whole lot of trouble and snow storms. So yeah, that’s kind of a little bit not cool. We get it…it’s a play on her getting her period…

And guess what! The way to solve her crankiness is to set her up on a date. Again, not cool.

BUTTTT growing up I didn’t see any of that. I just loved the program.

The full program isn’t on youtube so if you want to watch it you’ll have to find some other way to do it (it really is but it’s zoomed in and it’s lame).
