review 1: Cora is 82 years old and her children have place her in an assisted living residence. Her granddaughter has given her a journal. and, out of anger/frustration/boredom she starts to write her life story. Cora embarks on a journey of self-discovery. Having had a mother in a nursing facility, I found the descriptions of the residence very realistic but delivered with humor. I can't wait for my sister to read it so we can discuss it.
review 2: So, how many books have you read that were set in an assisted living facility? Yeah, me neither. Well, this wonderful story is told from the point of view of a senior home resident who is pissed off that her children had her placed there. She keeps busy by writing about the long-ago events that shaped her life, striking up... more a romance with another resident, undergoing personal transformation, and attempting to solve the mystery of who is stealing things from residents in the facility. This book was very enjoyable, well-written, and heartfelt. Definitely recommend it! less
