review 1: I started this book late in 2014 and just finished it this evening so I'm counting it as my first read of 2015. I enjoy books about mail order brides because I realize that it was probably a natural part of settling the western portion of the United States. Linda Bridey is a new to me author and although I was a little bit disappointed in the length of the book I otherwise felt it was enjoyable though there wasn't a lot of excitement in it. She did adhere to her statement that it is a "clean historical" which I appreciated as many authors feel that if a book isn't loaded with sex it either isn't worth writing or reading. I will eventually read her other books though I've got others right now that come before them.

... moreok and will not continue the series. The first thing that hit me were several anachronistic phrases, "fooling around", " put me in a box" and a few others. The beginning felt drawn out while the end felt rushed. Then, especially once the couple begins courting, it was all telling, no showing. Also, for someone newly in love, the dispute just seemed ridiculous and very juvenile. Lastly, there were just some weirdly worded phrases, usually too many descriptive words where one or two would have done the job (bitter cold winter blizzard, or something close). Author has promise but needs polish and experience before publishing books. less

I enjoyed this book. A light read, predictable, but fun to read on a quiet day!

Wow it was awful. I don't know if I could express how awful it was.
