review 1: This was a very busy novel... A very complicated situation arises (see book description) and throws the entire cast for a loop...several times. Well, it's not that complicated as it the interactions and HUGE gap in communication that makes the story a very interesting roller coaster ride. Basically, we pick up where we left off in the 1st novel. Soon, it becomes clear to the reader who is going to be causing trouble and how complicated it will be for our heroes to save the day. The POV constantly changes to provide a 'real-time' account of what every "cast member" is up to and thinking about. (I myself thought my head was going to whirl with all of the info...) Alas, I continued to gape and gawk at the crazy actions some of them (personally, I voted Scotland a LONG time ag... moreo for sanity's sake). Nevertheless, I had to endure their torture (and mine) to the end, where I'm still baffled at how poor Philip could have such luck LOL.Be Warned: If you had any staunch objections to the previous book, I suggest you find another book to read since this one will test your patience further regarding narrative style and character interactions. If you just HAVE to know what happens, like I did, then get ready for a wild ride.
review 2: This is a delightful, light-hearted, easy to read book. It's a book that I would call a "week-ender", because you can start it on Friday night and have it completed by Sunday Night if you read straight through and enjoy the story. I picked the book up, because it was the recommended read for the month of September. When I first started reading it, I was not sure it was something that I would enjoy. HOwever, the story line moved quickly, the characters were likeable, and I got half way through the book and realized that I really didn't want to put it down. The main characters are involved in a comedy of errors. I would love to see a movie made of this book! Don't get me wrong, I didn't laugh all the way through the book, but I did find myself smiling, shaking my head wonderment, and looking forward to reading the next chapter! less

Really appreciated a heroine who for once turns to effectual prayer and scripture in her trials.

I wish she'd have said more on Miss Herley and Antoine's future....but maybe that's next book!

Really liked this book. Modern day Jane Austen, it was easy to read and yet not cheesy.
