review 1: I am going to admit something -- I don't love the whole "old love reunited" story-line. In fact, I will actively NOT read books with this story-line. Although I've read some that I've liked, I just sort of feel like the author is cheating because they don't always have to develop an underlying chemistry between the characters since they were together already. I've seen authors write this story and really like it, but I think this is one of the ones where I didn't feel any chemistry between the two main characters...
review 2: This is the second Love Finds You book that I have read and I enjoyed another visit to a town that I had never heard of before! When Sheriff Corbin comes back to town, Catherine’s neat little life of caring for her three sisters is th
... morerown into an uproar. He walked out of her life once, and she is afraid he will do it again if she gives him the chance. And add to this fear, Corbin is trying to ruin her sister’s engagement by blaming a murder on her fiancé. This synopsis of the book instantly grabbed my attention – a mystery with a love story! The characters were well described and the past history between Corbin and Catherine was something the reader slowly discovered – making it a book that kept me turning the pages. There were a few spots in the writing that I had a problem with it…namely that I didn’t feel very connected with the characters. They weren’t that personal to me. The mystery part of the book was good. I was kept guessing…though was surprised at who the murderer ended up being. I don’t want to give it away, but suffice to say that it wasn’t who I was expecting until halfway through the book…and then I was a bit disappointed at the murderer. I really can’t say why without giving it away, so you’ll just have to read the book to draw your own conclusions on that! :-)As a whole, this book was an entertaining read, but I have not felt the desire to pick it up again to re-read (which is normally how I feel after I have finished a good book!). But I am glad I was able to read it. The ending was rather calmer than I would’ve imagined for the story, but it resolved everything nicely.I reviewed this book for Christian Review of Books. The thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are my own. less
