review 1: Mace = *swoon*There were so many things I loved about this story. There is nothing better than picking up a book, that not only pulls me in on every level: the characters, the plot, the humour and the emotions, not forgetting the hot tattoo and piercing factor; but is also written in a way that makes it such a breeze to read. The writing style was effortless. It flowed beautifully from start to finish; and that is a huge plus for me - not many authors can pull that off IMHO. So, huge thumbs up to the author for that!Mace is the epitome of sexy! Tall, handsome, ripped, ex special forces and emotionally scarred - enough to have the dark, brooding vibe going on. His past just gutted me, absolutely shredded my emotions and had me watering my kindle, and then he starts wit... moreh the 'cheese' and god if he didn't have me laughing. Was that perfect or what?! It is something my hubby would do and I just adored it! The dose of angst and emotion was perfectly balanced with the hotter than hot -frequent- steam, so it wasn't all doom and gloom and made for a great lazy Sunday read.If I had to be picky, which I usually am when I read, the only thing I could complain about was I would liked to have learnt more in depth info on Scar's past. I am very much looking forward to reading Trip's book.5 'cheese' stars
review 2: It had potential but fell flat for me.All the cheesiness towards the end when it might have felt more real to have a few heartfelt conversations/declarations. The way Scar handled the uninvited guest. The hypocrisy of Teeny's advice when she couldn't be honest about her own situation. The repeat use of the "C" word along with the constant (did I say CONSTANT? Cause I meant CONSTANT!!!) use of the term "babe". I have no problem with terms of indearment, at all, but the high level of use in this story made it incredibly annoying and pulled me out of the story. less
